WSOP Europe ruled London
The WSOPE or World Series of Poker Europe officially started in London at the halls of the Empire Casino. The scheduled events, as expected, sell really fast.
Just to give you a picture the #1 Event No Limit Hold’em for this tournament was capped with 204 eager poker souls. Jack Effel welcomed the poker players and went through a rundown of the scheduled events for the week. Poker pro JP Kelly was called to the stage to officially instruct the dealers to commence the games.
Poker pros are everywhere if we can say it that way. The stars of the game are present namely Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari, Sorel Mizzin, Huck Seed, Barry Greenstein, Erik Seidel, Men Nguyen, Tom Dwan, Annette Obrestad, and Phil Laak.
Still early in the competition, the roster of stars already has some casualties. Seed, Nguyen, and Dwan slammed into the rails.
Nguyen’s Ace-King Diamond was played with all his chips only to find out that his hand was against a three of a kind. This goes to show that even multi-bracelet holders sometimes ram into a disaster situation.
Seed was also disappointed when he gambled with his top pair against a strong set sending the former world champion out of the table.
Dwan thought he was okay with his two pairs of 7-6 but his opponent flopped a straight.
